Is the grass greener? Five players who might wish they’d stayed at Southampton

When Southampton went through financial trouble and were relegated to League One in the summer of 2009 the club was literally in turmoil.

Many players abandoned ship be it through their own choice not to want to drop a level or through the need of the club to bring money in.

Notably though, the highly rated pair of Adam Lallana and Morgan Schneiderlin both decided to stay and played their part in Saints rise back to the Premier League.

Both of these men now find themselves in Brazil representing England and France respectively at a World Cup finals.

But what became of the men that left?

  1. 1. Would have him back. 2. Waste of space. 3. Don’t think he really wanted to go in the first place. Never set the world on fire, maybe his heart wasn’t in it away from St Mary’s. 4. Didn’t Rasiak prosper from Bale pinging the crosses over and did nothing when that service stopped. Not sure my timing is right there. I do know he ( his family) didn’t want to move on. 5. Thought Saganoeski was pretty good in bursts, shame he didn’t stick around a bit longer.
