Well that ladies and gentleman was that for this year’s ‘Annual totally frustrating borefest against West Ham at St. Mary’s’. It did not disappoint.

I know what you were thinking? There is no way last season’s turgid non-event could be topped? Surely, ‘Big Sam’ can’t make his anti-football any more direct and negative? Well more fool you for underestimating.

But it is inconceivable that Saints would pussy foot around with the ball looking absolutely without a clue what to do with it in the final third for a second year in the row? You’d have thought so wouldn’t you, alas no.

Last year it was all about a seemingly unbeatable performance from Hammers’ keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, but this year the Fin only got on the pitch once his colleague Adrian had been dismissed. He still wasn’t beaten, but that was more about Saints’ ineptitude in the box than any sort…
